Japan

Somewhere between tourist and resident

Japan has become a huge part of my life over the last few years. What started as a holiday quickly turned into an obsession with the language, the culture and the challenge of understanding a country that often feels completely different from my own.

Since 2023, I’ve dedicated a huge amount of my time to learning Japanese. Even though my Japanese is far from perfect, being able to speak with people has made me appreciate the country, its culture and its people even more.

While I spend most of my time in Tokyo, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience many different parts of Japan. From the snowy landscapes of Hokkaido, to the mountains of Nagano, to standing on the summit of Mount Fuji, every trip has shown me a different side of the country.

My long-term goal is to make Japan my home.

I’m not an expert, a teacher or a travel guide. I’m just someone who fell in love with Japan and wants to understand it a little better. I’ll try to document some of that journey here.
